Napoli have to wait and see if ‘Neres’ is injured

Napoli have confirmed that David Neres has suffered a muscular injury in the weekend game and will miss next month’s crucial clash with Inter Milan.

Neres suffered the injury towards the end of Sunday’s game at Udinese and has undergone tests on the wing.

Napoli have confirmed the 27-year-old’s injury but have not given a long-term answer on the sidelines. However,

Napoli also have games at Fiorentina a week later and at AC Milan at the end of next month.

Neres is expected to be out for more than a month, with Sky Italia reporting he could be out for almost six weeks.

The Serie A leaders have not confirmed Neres’ recovery time. But according to Italian sources, including Gazzetta,  risks missing a crucial Serie A game. Against Inter at the Stadio Maradona on March 2.

Neres, in fact, could be forced to the sidelines for over a month. with Sky Sport Italia putting the time at closer to six weeks.

The 27-year-old has become a regular starter at the Stadio Maradona after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s move to PSG in January.

Neres has 22 Serie A appearances for Napoli in the 2024-2025 season, scoring two goals and providing four assists. He has accumulated three goals and eight assists this season in 24 games across all competitions.

Neres has emerged as a first-choice player for Napoli since Kvicha Kvaratskhelia left for Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window.

He only joined the Azzurri this season and has made 22 appearances in Serie A. Starting 10 of them, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
